Lenten Obligations

The days of fast and forbearance are Ash Midweek, March ii^nd and
Good Fri, April 15th.

          All other Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence.

          The Obligation of Fast applies merely to Catholics betwixt the ages of 18 and 59.  Fasting in the Catholic tradition means to limit oneself to one full repast and ii smaller meals which together are not equal to a full meal, so every bit to experience hunger.

          The Obligation of Abstinence applies to all Catholics who have reached the age of 14.  Abstinence in the Catholic tradition ways to abjure from meat.

Pope Francis in this Earth Synod is calling Church building to prayer

It is intended to inspire people to dream about the Church we are chosen to be, to make people'southward hope flourish, to stimulate trust, to demark up wounds, to weave new and deeper relationships, to larn from one another, to build bridges, to enlighten minds, warm hearts and restore force to our hands for our common mission.

The synodal journeying is of slap-up significance for the proficient of both the universal and local Church building. During this process, the Diocese of Metuchen invites all the People of God to listen to each other, without exception, and with particular care to involve also those who are farther away and are mayhap sometimes not included.

We stand before you, Holy Spirit, conscious of our sinfulness,
but enlightened that we assemble in your proper name.
Come up to us, remain with us, and enlighten our hearts.
Give united states light and forcefulness to know your will, to make it our own,
and to live it in our lives.
Guide united states by your wisdom, back up the states by your power,
for you are God, sharing the glory of Father and Son.

6:00pm BELLS ACROSS PORT READING AND SEWAREN

On Lord's day, May three,  2020 I began the exercise of the RINGING of the BELLS in PORT READING and SEWAREN.  The purpose was twofold.

The First bells were tolled for those who died of the Corona Virus.  The Second bells are bells of commemoration.   Celebrating all health care workers, first responders, police officers,  teachers and all in the field of education to go along educating the citizens of our community, librarians for keeping libraries opened by social media, parents and grandparents caring for their family members, all front end line workers, government officials and wellness section employees,  those praying for those recovering from the Corona Virus and all who are praying and interceding on behalf of everyone during  this difficult fourth dimension.

It is my laurels to invite anyone who wishes to come to St. Anthony of Padua parking lot any evening at 6PM,  for the RINGING of the BELLS in PORT READING and SEWAREN to say a prayer for all the above mentioned also every bit your ain needs. The RINGING of the BELLS will continue until we can celebrate the ultimate victory over the Corona Virus with the grace of GOD and the medical research and a vaccine is developed. I will continue to pray and intercede with the RINGING of the BELLS until we can celebrate that solar day.
